How do I get to Holbox?
The island is reached only by Ferry, which is taken in the town of Chiquilá. There is also air transportation that you can take directly from the airports of the Yucatan Peninsula to the island of Holbox.

How far is the Cancun airport from the Port of Chiquila?
We are located 1 hour 45 minutes from the Cancun airport.

How far is the Merida airport from the Port of Chiquila?
We are located 2 hours 45 minutes from the airport of Merida.

How often does the ferry leave from Puerto Chiquila to Holbox and until what time is it available?
The ferry runs from 6 am to 8 pm, and departures are every half hour.

How often does the ferry from Holbox to Puerto de Chiquila leave and until what time is it available?
The first ferry is at 5 am and departs every 30 minutes until 8 pm.

How can I arrange my transportation to Holbox?

If I rent a car, where can I park?
Cars are not permitted on the island of Holbox, so cars will need to be left in private parking lots in the Port of Chiquilá. Their prices vary from $ 100 pesos per day ($ 5 usd) approx.

Is it necessary to carry cash or can I pay with a credit / debit card?
We suggest bringing cash since it is the most common form of payment and there are few ATMs on the island.
Mexican Pesos and US Dollars are accepted, however, it is recommended to take smaller denominations of money since some local companies often remain without change. $100 USD bills are not generally accepted in the area.

Where can I safeguard my valuable belongings?
Inside your room, you will have a safe deposit box, at no cost, in which you can leave your belongings safely.

What is there to do in Holbox?
If you're looking to relax, our first recommendation is to relax on the beach and enjoy the breeze, the sun and the drink of your choice.
On the island there are also different ecotourism activities such as renting a bicycle or golf cart and exploring the island, kayaking, as well as paddle boarding.
If you’d like to take part in an excursion, swimming with the whale sharks (July to September) is highly recommended.
There are also guided kayak tours to visit the mangrove area, and see various types of birds and crocodiles. A must-do while on the island is to watch the sunset on the beach. Around 6:15pm many people go to the main pier to take their place and admire one of the most important shows of nature, where you can enjoy the tranquility, beauty and splendor of the sunset. 

Night activities:
Holbox comes alive at night. Once the sun sets, go downtown to enjoy the local restaurants and bars.
